This post should really be called the J Crew post... The shirt, skirt, and belt are from J Crew, and I didn't realize this until now, as I post it. The lighting for this post is absolutely horrible, which made editing hard...

Anyway, I chose to post this outfit, because I absolutely love the combination. I am a big fan of dressing up, but my life doesn't allow for day to day high-society-glamour. This forces me to find my ways of looking put together without seeming overdone...

And here we have found that look. A jean shirt, a sequined skirt, and a small leather belt. A cute outfit to knock around in, all while looking like a total knockout ...

Doesn't this great metal heart look great with the colors I am wearing?! The artist is from California, but he participates in the Art Festival in Park City, Utah every summer. That is where we bought this great piece.... Okay, bye.

This spread appeared in W Magazine last month. It was absolutely amazing and inspiring.

The mix of the glamourous, Sofia Coppola's, Marie Antoinette-esque fashion, wild animals, and snow was perfect.

I want to paint a ton of these photos. They are amazing. I definitely would not include the snow, but I feel they could be fascinating paintings. Do you think they will translate as well as the photos? Maybe not... But it wouldn't hurt to try... :)

I did love this movie. A lot.

It was disturbing and brilliant. Natalie Portman was phenomenal. She will certainly get award nominations, and if I had it my way, she would win... She was seriously amazing and really stretched herself as an actress.

The movie was made perfectly... I would recommend this!

So I know the Lita boot has been overused and overexposed... but I can't help myself... I am still completely in love with them... Plus, they blend perfectly with this outfit. The brown heel and the black leather of the shoe go fabulously with the brown leather belt and the browns and black of the skirt...

This skirt is absolutely phenomenal! It was a dress I bought at a thrift store in Paris, but I hated the top of the dress, so I cut it off and just wear it as a skirt... I seriously can't get enough of it... the print, the color, the material... perfection...

The King's Speech is the story of King George VI. How he came to be king, the speech problem he had, and how he overcame it...

This man right here was his speech coach... My FAVORITE character in the movie... Geoffrey Rush was absolutely wonderful..

A Simple Start....

I decided my first outfit post would be a simple one... A black long sleeve shirt, black uggs, and black leggings, with a killer vest. For the snowy winter in Deer Valley Utah it was perfect, but also found it to be perfect for the frosty temperatures gracing southern California these past few weeks...

This vest is amazing with the camo mixed with the knit print mixed with the fur mixed with leather... It shouldn't work, but it definitely does...

I know I am a couple days late, but HAPPY NEW YEARS to you all!

It has been a while since I last posted anything... I literally couldn't find a moment or an ounce of energy to blog.... I went from Final exams in school, to traveling with no internet connection, to having to get my computer fixed... I finally got it back, I am in one place for a couple days to relax enough to blog, and I am ready to start this new year off right...

2010 was a big year for me and I wouldn't change it. I have grown more than I could have ever imagined, and I have ended up starting 2011 exactly where I needed to.

I am going to change my blog a little bit. Just include some more personal style to it. I have been extremely inspired lately, so I am going to take advantage of that and see where it takes me...

So my obsession with Chelsea Handler started when I began reading her books (which are hilariously great! and you should all go buy at least one!)... Then I found myself on youtube one night and literally stayed up until morning watching clips from her show Chelsea Lately. She is hilarious and awesome. She really isn't like anyone else on the late night/comic circuit right now, especially as a woman.

Truly love her...

While peruising these Lately clips, I came across the episode when 50 Cent was a guest... I have always loved Fiddy... But this interview made me love him even more (so, so much!)...

Diary of a Manhattan Call Girl..

I recently read Diary of a Manhattan Call Girl by Tracy Quan.

Overall, I enjoyed the book.

It was about a woman who is a call girl in New York City (clearly you could have gotten that much from the book's title)... She is engaged to man who doesn't know about her job, has been a prostitute, by choice, since she was about 14, and her only friends are also in the business.

She is high strung and stressed out (I mean, who wouldn't be)...

The sex scenes were extremely graphic, what else would you expect from a book with condoms as cover art?

But all those things aside, it was very interesting to read about this lifestyle and how it all works... If you need an easy, interesting read this could be it... I hear there is a sequel to it.. but I can't decide if I want to read it.. hmmm...

Harry Potter... Need I say more...

For those of you who don't know me very well, I am a true Harry Potter LOVER (and I'm not afraid to admit it)...

I have read all the books multiple times, seen every movie more times than I could count, and have now see the new movie twice... within a week...

For those of you who have read the books, you know that the movies are GREAT, but don't live up to the books. And for those of you who haven't read the books, how are you not utterly, completely and totally confused? (You might be, I wouldn't be surprised)...

But it is safe to say, this movie was fantastic and Part 2 will be even more exciting... My heart's pounding just thinking about it.

This post is long overdue. I saw this movie about two weeks ago and absolutely loved it.

It was finally one of those great movies that you walk away from saying, "HELL YEA!"

It was quite sexual. Anne Hathaway and Jake Gyllenhaal were naked at least a third of the movie. Their chemistry was very real and full of passion.

They are both great actors and played these roles true to character.

All in all I'd say you should go see it!

It is turkey day... and along with that brings great thought (at least for me it does)...

America's greatest accomplishment (not really ... but kinda)... THANKSGIVING!

... So back to this thinking... what to be grateful for? For me, it is more the question of what NOT to be grateful for. I have experienced so much this year. I have loved deeply. I have been loved back. I have had struggles and hardships. I have had victories and the happiest days of my life. I have traveled the world. I have worked my ass off. I have stayed in bed for days straight doing nothing. I am grateful for this life of mine and everything that I have been fortunate enough to experience.

... and i cherish everything about that little statement.

I am not a fan of these 3 concepts in one, with the patent leather, the hemp like layer, and the Spice Girls platform (clearly exactly what Prada was going for).. but in my opinion it was a step too far into a strange and jumbled mess... But a good step in the direction of the Spice Girls circa 1995...

I am exhausted... and I don't know why... I am getting an adequate amount of sleep and I am not involved in an extreme amount of activities (clearly, seeing I have gone to the movies 3 times in 5 days...)... but I am tired (so tired I feel asleep on the couch in the Journalism department today...lame)...

I love to dream... I love to lay there in bed, consciously asleep, and sensing that I am dreaming... It still feels like I am actually living my dream, but I have a bit of a sense that I am asleep... Do y'all know what I am talking about?

My dream state is the best. My subconscious comes up with the craziest weirdest things ever!... I really have no explanation for it.

Morning Glory

BEST MOVIE EVER! ... Well maybe not everrrr... but best movie in a long time!

On Monday, the journalism department handed out free passes to a sneak peak showing of Rachel McAdams new movie, Morning Glory. So, of course, I jumped at the opportunity and brought some friends along with me... (Even though I have seen 3 movies in theaters in 5 days... embarrassing right?)...

The movie was light and refreshing. It was a new story line- different from all the "sameness" in the movie industry these days. It was cliche, but not it a cliche-lame way. The movie had me laughing so hard and at times it was so heartfelt and real.

It had many great aspects and relationships, but what really took the cake was the casting. McAdams was neurotic and all over the place, but played it so well. She also had so much chemistry with Diane Keaton and Harrison Ford! They were all wonderful together. Jeff Goldblum, who is seriously underrated and under-casted, added his own hilarity and charisma to the movie.

The message was wonderful and was shown in a captivating way.

You allllll MUST SEE THIS MOVIE!

Due Date...

Saturday night we decided to go see Due Date after dinner... We figured the 11 o'clock showing wouldn't be too busy... so took our time getting there... Well, we paid for it, smack dab in the front row... I honestly don't understand why they even put seats that close... but anyway, we decided to stay anyway...

The movie was and was't what I had expected. It of course had its hilarious moments, but it also had some very dramatic heartfelt moments... and sometimes these to emotional opposites were in the same scene... It was overall enjoyable. It was certainly not my favorite, but it was cute.

I am normally not such a cynic, but in this movie, I could not help but sit there and think THAT WOULDN'T HAPPEN IN REAL LIFE at certain parts...

I can say that these two actors (whom I loveee) are geniuses and their individual genius works together quite well...

Again, it was funny and cute and had a good message... So, see it...

Best Coast

Friday night I went to a Best Coast show with one of my best friends. I had never heard of Best Coast before she invited me along with her and a friend of hers.

I really enjoyed the show and Best Coast's music.

Best Coast is an indie pop trio from Los Angeles. Bethany Cosentino, the lead singer, has a great voice and a really sweet stage presence. If you want a fun show I would definitely suggest Best Coast!

Howl

I saw the movie Howl two days ago.

It is about Beat poet Allen Ginsberg played by James Franco. The movie has three aspects. The first is Allen Ginsberg talking about his life and the things that inspired his poetry. The second is an animated sequence that is narrated by Ginsberg reading his poetry. The third is a trial that involves Howl's (Ginsberg's most famous work) publisher being sued for the explicit content of Ginsberg's writing.

The photo above is Ginsberg and his life partner and below is the photo recreating that moment with Franco.

The movie was very interesting and really informed me about Ginsberg and other Beat poets from the time, but it was definitely a strange movie. If you like obscure indie films then you should check it out.

I really liked the masquerade look for Halloween... It is easy to throw on a body suits, leggings, and other outerwear... apply some face paint and make up and wear a mask...

And after seeing these pictures I really wanted to... The top one with the big hair is my favorite, and her mask is great... but the girl with the handprint on her face is also AMAZING...

I wanted to dress like all of these girls... instead I didn't dress like any of them... and did some 4th rate costume idea...

I found this gurlllls blog a few weeks ago (and of course I can't find it anymore... nor do i remember the name of it...) and I absolutely adore everything about her style.

She is super cute and definitely has a distinctive look, but she also looks so versatile in all her posts...

The key to her style is to keep things SIMPLE. That is something I don't do very easily. I load on the jewelry, carry a big bag, and always have a sweater or scarf (even in summer)...

I am finally and thoroughly obsessed with these Jeffrey Campbell Lita boot-heels! When I first saw them I wasn't a huge fan... but has they have popped up, well EVERYWHERE... I couldn't help falling in love with their unique and funky (and chunky) look...

I do not love that they are everywhere and oh so popular... but luckily, I haven't had a Lita spotting on the streets of Dallas... YET...

And they can be worn with practically ANYTHING! They are super versatile... loveeee them...

Back from a wonderful trip... I love New York City with a crazy passion! It is one of my FAVORITE cities in the world!

I know we are all over my fall wardrobe list... especially since it has taken me so long to finish all the posts... but I am going to keep going, because, well, I want to... So just deal... :)

I am seriously loving the bulky, bulky look... It is a great look, especially for fall/winter... They are very stand out pieces, and small details aren't needed.

It's a trend that can move through the season's, but this fall especially I am super into the head gear...

It can add so much to an outfit: it can add a bit of color to a drab look... it can mask a bad hair day.. all while keeping a bit (if not all) of your head warm...

A slouchy hat, a scarf wrapped around the crown of your head, or a strategically placed headband are definitely a must...

I really like this bright red, turban-like hat is awesome! I absolutely love it... It is a new, trendy take on a beanie...

For those frosty days, pull out the fur...

The blazer look is way under-worn... which I am not complaining about, we don't need to flood the streets all wearing the same thing, but I definitely believe it is further under the radar than I would expect.

(look at Gwyneth Paltrow... she wearing a blazer and cargo pants... way to be "fall-ish")

A blazer can dress up a casual outfit or can casualize (another made up word for my point) a formal look.

There are many blazer's on the market now. So many options: colors, shapes, fabrics, boy-fit, fitted-fit, longer, shorter... and they are all AMAZING...

Plus, they are a good layering piece in the fall... So... if you don't have one, run out and grab one...

The J. Crew blazer's are incredible comfortable and great fitting, but you can find them pretty much anywhere!

Needless to say, this is probably my favorite post out of my Fall list... because, well, I am ADDICTIVELY (not a word... but gets my point across) OBSESSED with shoes... but enough about me...

FALL FOOTWEAR... this is an exciting time for feet...

Fall is all about the big, heeled, bulky boot. Whether it be a full boot or a bootie heel... They all work...

Clockwise, the printed bootie like the leopard Louboutin's , the above-the-knee leather boot, an army style flat lace up boot, or a badass motorcycle-chick kinda boot all work perfectly for the fall...

How exciting is it to have a season with such a wide variety of looks?

As for heels... Well the bigger-bulkier-badasser the better! A Wedge heel is super "in" right now... and the ankle bootie look also... typically together...

So, if I were to suggest something... a wedged, ankle-bootie heel is a win win for everyone...

So I fully intended to keep my "Fall" posts going through the weekend... but I got hijacked by the bed and a whole bunch of relaxation...

I spent the entire weekend taking a break from life... without any technology... without any communication... without any people (except my partner in crime).... and without any obligations...

I [we] did laundry, rented movies, ate meal after meal [pretty much all while in bed]... and just relaxed.... it was wonderful...

So I am sorry (not really) for taking a little break... it was fabulous... but I ammmm back... and will continue with my fall-must-wear list... watch out!

BEWARE: Heavy Cargo...

The military trend has gone in and out of style lately... the military style pieces were around for a while, but never really got a huge amount of attention... not until the cargo pant, has anything like this stuck...

I really like the cargo pant look, especially the new fitted styles and clearly others do as well...

For the fall these pants are perfect... They give a little more edge than the average pant, but aren't so heavy that you will find yourself burning hot on a cool fall afternoon.

If you don't have a pair, I suggest running out and getting one... J Brand has an amazing Cargo Pant line right now (some of the pants in these pictures are the J Brand pant...)... You will be obsessed!

The shift in plaid over the years is amazing. It went from being a grunge-associated clothing choice in the 90's, to a high fashion-MUST HAVE today...

I do love it... It typically comes in a form of clothing that is warmer than a t-shirt, but not quite as hot as a sweatshirt... so for FALL it's PERFECT!

Plaid is all over the fall runways... as it has been over the past two years or so... So take part... You really can't go wrong...

September 22, 2010--The First Day of Fall

It is officially Fall! I can not even fully explain how excited I am for this upcoming season... Amazing... and those of us living in Dallas can definitely feel the change in weather! (It is supposed to stay under 90 degrees for the next 10 days! Biggg deal if you are living in Dallas!)...

Anywhooo...

Fall is probably my favorite season for fashion, because so much can be expressed and there aren't many restrictions.

With summer, you can't do heavy layers (heat... HELLO)...

With winter, you have to do heavy layers (it's freeezing... HELLO... unless you live in Southern California, then well you lucky sons of BIT--well you get what I'm saying...)

During the fall you can wear scarves and hats and pants or skirts... the weather can be warmer or colder... but overall it is just perfect...

This fall I have my list of MUST-WEARS!

Prints, especially leopard prints, add so much to any outfit... especially those of us that tend to end up with all black ensembles, a bag or pair of shoes can add a lil' sumthin' sumthin'...

My current obsession is Ellie Goulding... I'm sure all of you have heard Starry Eyed and if this is where your knowledge of Ellie begins and ends, then we must work to change that...

As Starry Eyed became a pretty popular Top 20 song, I became more curious. I went ahead and downloaded most of Ellie Goulding on a whim... and to my surprise, this whim turned into a full-fledged obsession!

Ellie is a 23 year old from England... She is a singer-songwriter-guitarist... and she is amazing...

These days my interest in music is beyond ADHD... I listen to a song for a day or two-love it, listen to it, get over it, move on to the next one... So for me to find someone who I can (and have) listened to on repeat for weeks straight is a true testament to her talent and her music.

So my roommate and I decided on using AT&T for the internet and cable in our apartment... what a mistake that was... They have taken weeks from the day I signed up to come out and install (that was enough to frustrate anyone... I mean come on, two college students without internet at home!??!)

But we were patient. We waited... and waited... and waited.. Yesterday they finally came... and yet, another roadblock...

They arrived at 9:45 a.m.... couldn't figure it out (can I mention that this is a brand new apartment complex, so the technology is brand new...) all day.

They did not leave until 9 p.m.... and we still don't have internet.

This is BULLLSHIZZNIT!

So frustrated... This is why my posts have been so lame lately... I promise, for your sake and mine, that I will be back consistently as soon as I can...

[this is kinda along the lines of my last post... but this feels more overwhelming than an inspiration overload....] I literally have no time to just sit still and breathe for a while, I kinda love it though. I love having a million things to do. It forces me to do things I really want to do and love to do. Of course I would rather not take the classes I have to, but it has it's advantages. Plus I love most of my classes and LOVE the majority of my professors... It's going to be a ridiculously crazy-hard semester... but I am enjoying myself thus far... But I still can't help but ask myself the majority of the time...

Inspiration Overload...

So lately (the past week specifically), I have had such a complete inspiration overload that I am at an utter stand-still. I want to do so much--write about so much, photograph so much, read so much--I am way overwhelmed. It is an amazing yet frustrating feeling.

Fashion, music, interior design, art... it is all spinning in my brain... I just need to learn how to organize it the way I envision it... i do not know if that is even possible.

But have no fear... I will try... stay tuned for how this whirlwind will come into play... Love all these pictures. They are random... kinda an insight into where I am at and how I am feeling...

Oh, Dallas... What am I going to do with you?

Today was a mess of rain and humidity... Woke up, dressed appropriately (jeans, rain boots, tank top, think knit sweater.. )... got in my car, drove to school, opened the back door to get my umbrella out... and of course it wasn't there... So here I am walking all the way across campus in a torrential down pour... I arrived in class looking like the girl above.. it took me about 10 minutes to ring out my hair... my jeans were soaked through and my knit sweater weighed about 45 pounds due to being full of water... So I find myself sitting in class soaking wet.. in a tank top, in 25 degree air conditioning... and I had 3 hour an a half classes in a row... lets just say I will not make that mistake again...

I loved it. I thought it was hilarious and honest...

I have had very mixed emotions about Chelsea Handler and her humor after watching some of her shows and reading some articles on her... Her humor is hit or miss... most of the time she is just too crude for me...

This book was very over the edge, but it was great. She is a brilliant writer...

So, I put my stamp of approval on it and recommend it to anyone that doesn't mind reading about Chelsea Handler's hilarious sex life...
